Guide: Installing Draw Bolts in your Butcherblock Top
Tools and Materials Needed:
Draw bolts (included with your butcherblock)
Wrench or socket wrench (appropriate size for the bolt head)
Damp cloth
1. Prepare the Joint
Align the Butcherblock Pieces: Lay the sections on a flat surface, ensuring the pre-drilled holes for the draw bolts align perfectly.
Clean the Edges: Wipe the joining edges with a damp cloth to remove dust or debris.
2. Insert the Draw Bolts
Position the Bolts: Insert the draw bolts through the pre-drilled channels on the underside of the countertop.
Hand-Tighten: Thread the bolts into their corresponding nuts by hand to ensure proper alignment without cross-threading.
3. Tighten the Bolts
Evenly Tighten: Using a wrench or socket wrench, gradually tighten each bolt. Alternate between bolts to apply even pressure and ensure a tight, level joint.
Do Not Over-Tighten: Tighten only until the joint is snug and secure, avoiding excessive force that could damage the wood.
4. Final Check
Inspect the Joint: Ensure the seam is flush and tight across the entire length.
Test for Stability: Gently apply pressure to confirm the pieces are securely joined.
Your butcherblock is now assembled and ready for installation!
